As we usher in this new year, I’m reflecting on 2023 and the amazing work produced by our staff. It certainly was a busy year and I foresee endless opportunities in 2024 to serve the engineering infrastructure needs of our clients and our communities. This service will be provided not only replacing antiquated water, wastewater, and civil infrastructure facilities and equipment but by responsibly addressing economic growth and potable water needs in the Southeast, and the ever-emerging focus on PFAS contamination in both our drinking water and in our wastewater biosolids. We have much left to do in our quest to leave this planet better than how we found it.
2023 marked my first year taking over as President and CEO at Wright-Pierce. My focus over the course of the last year was to prioritize our people. This culminated in rolling out new mission, vision, and values after engaging our staff and asking what was important to them. With this renewed sense of purpose and values, we enter 2024 with the mission to deliver technical excellence and superior client service. This past year we welcomed 25 new staff to Wright-Pierce as well as 21 student interns. We also opened three new offices in Marlborough, Massachusetts; Greenville, South Carolina; and Burlington, Vermont. Our future is bright and is the result of one thing—our people.
The photo that accompanies this message is one of personal importance to us—a snapshot of a winter sunrise over the Androscoggin River adjacent to our Topsham, Maine office from our own Sandy Mauro. It represents the dawning of a new day and a new year ahead. On behalf of all of us at Wright-Pierce, we wish you and yours all the best in 2024.
