Rich Protasowicki, PE, a Senior Project Manager at Wright-Pierce, is the 2017 recipient of the William H. McGinness Award given by the Massachusetts Water Works Association (MWWA) in recognition of his commitment to the water works profession and his support of MWWA. He is a past member of the association’s Program Committee and over the years has dedicated time to instruct on a variety of water treatment topics in order to educate drinking water operators about new technologies. Rich received the award at the MWWA Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet held at the Lake Pearl in Wrentham, MA.
Rich has more than two decades of experience as a water engineer. As Water Practice Group Leader of the Andover, MA office, Rich has worked with municipalities throughout Massachusetts and Greater New England to improve or replace aging infrastructure with the shared goal of providing a safe and adequate supply of drinking water. Rich is currently working throughout Massachusetts on various water treatment and infrastructure renewal projects. Rich has also earned a reputation as a water treatment and supply expert, with his focus on the treatment of iron and manganese in many Massachusetts water supplies, and is often invited to present at technical and regulatory conferences.
The William H. McGinness Award is in honor of its namesake who had a long and active career with MWWA. Mr. McGinness was instrumental in the passage of legislation making it mandatory that operators of drinking water facilities be licensed.
